Christian Care Communities is seeking a dietary cook for our new Bridgepointe at Ashgrove Woods facility located in Nicholasville, KY.

PART I: POSITION IDENTIFICATION Dietary Cook

PART II: POSITION SUMMARY
The Dietary Cook is primarily responsible for preparing and serving meals according to cycles menu, monitoring methods of food handling, preparing meal service, and performing assigned work and cleaning routines for the Dietary Department while maintaining compliance with all applicable laws, regulatory and organizational standards.

PART III: POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Required Education: High school diploma or general education diploma (GED)

Preferred Education: Education in quantity cooking and therapeutic diets

Required Experience: 1 or more years’ experience in food service or dining services

Preferred Experience: 1 year food service experience in a health care dietary setting

Skills, Abilities and Knowledge
Excellent communication skills to include:
1. Ability to speak and read English
2. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
3. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
4. Ability to speak effectively before groups of employees, organizations and others
5. Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of staff


PART IV: ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The incumbent performs job responsibilities without posing a significant risk of substantial harm to the health or safety of him/her or others while maintaining compliance with all policies and procedures of Christian Care Communities and within the parameters of the Organization’s mission, vision, and values.

1. Prepares meals according to planned menus, and in accordance with standardized recipes, special diet orders, therapeutic diets and other special requirements.
2. Prepares, seasons, cooks and serves for assigned meal; ensures appropriate portioned servings according to portion control standards.
3. Plans and initiates cooking schedule for food preparation to meet meal schedule.
4. Monitors temperature of hot and cold foods through food preparation and service to ensure that established temperature goals are met prior to steam table transfer and maintained throughout meal service.
5. Tastes and smells prepared food to determine quality and palatability.
6. Serves food according to portion control and as ordered by residents.
7. Inspects special diet trays to assure they are correct.
8. Prepares nutritional snacks for clients
9. Determines amount and types of food and supplies as required for daily menus.
10. Assures that food and supplies for the next meal are readily available.
11. Assists in purchasing, receiving, and storing food and supplies
12. Regularly cleans kitchen equipment and maintains sanitation standards in the department.
13. Notifies Dietary Manager of food, supplies or equipment needs; reports equipment breakdowns and unsafe conditions
14. In the absence of the Dietary Manager;
a. checks and inspects food products and supplies as delivered
b. supervises dietary staff
15. Performs other department duties assigned by the Dietary Manager.

1. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate; lighting is in the standard range.
2. The employee is subject to falls, burns from equipment, odors, and exposure to the infectious waste, diseases and conditions, including the AIDS and Hepatitis B and C viruses.
