Christian Care Communities is seeking a full time Director of Nursing for our Bridgepointe at Ashgrove Woods facility located in Nicholasville, KY.

PART II: POSITION SUMMARY
The Director of Nursing is primarily responsible for the overall direction of an effective, ongoing nursing program to assess, measure, and improve quality of nursing care delivered to residents and/or patients by directing staff and other assigned professionals while maintaining compliance with all applicable laws, regulatory and organizational standards.

PART III: POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Required Education: Associate’s degree in nursing from an accredited college or university

Preferred Education: Bachelor’s degree in nursing from an accredited 4-year college or university

Required Experience: 3 years’ experience as a supervisor in a hospital, long-term care, or related facility 5 years’ of experience in the nursing profession; knowledge of rehabilitative and restorative nursing practices

Preferred Experience: Nonprofit sector

Required License and/or Certification: Unencumbered Registered Nurse license from Commonwealth of Kentucky
Skills, Abilities and Knowledge
1. Excellent communication skills to include:
a. Ability to speak and read English
b. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
c. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
d. Ability to speak effectively before groups of employees, organizations and others
e. Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of staff
2. Working knowledge of various software programs such as Microsoft Office products including, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel

PART IV: ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The incumbent performs job responsibilities without posing a significant risk of substantial harm to the health or safety of him/her or others while maintaining compliance with all policies and procedures of Christian Care Communities and within the parameters of the Organization’s mission, vision, and values.

1. Assures that an adequate number of appropriately trained professional and auxiliary Nursing Services personnel are on duty at all times to meet the needs of the residents and the department.
2. Approves admissions, and ensures medical equipment for each resident has been acquired.
3. Reviews deficiencies, complaints, problems and weaknesses received from inspections, audits, administrative reviews, residents and/or responsible persons, staff, and other parties; plans and/or executes appropriate corrective/preventative action, and reports plans and actions to the Administrator.
4. Directs, develops, administers, reviews, assesses, and, as necessary, revises a comprehensive written plan of care for each resident.
5. Performs administrative duties including maintenance of written policies, procedures, job descriptions, reference library of nursing material, quality assurance program, and organizational structure.
6. Completes various medical forms, reports, evaluations, studies, charts and other documents.
7. Participates in evaluating, selecting, and integrating healthcare technology and information management systems that support resident and patient care needs and the efficient utilization of clinical resources.
8. Performs direct nursing care and other duties of nursing services employees when necessary.
9. Participates in quality assurance program; maintains an updated 802/672; manages the PPD for staffing.
10. Evaluates QI/QM – implements corrective action plans related rankings.
11. Attends and travels to organizational meetings or educational offerings.
12. Recruits, hires, leads, motivates and provides strategic direction for and supervision of the department supervisors; holds staff accountable for achieving their operational goals
a. Actively promotes growth and development of staff, including opportunities to learn new skills and advance both personally and professionally
b. Oversees the staff development program which includes in-service training, on-the-job training, orientation programs, supervisory level training, workshops, seminars and other programs designed to keep pace with changes in the long term care industry as well as to maintain professional status
c. Creates a work environment and culture in which personnel work as both individual and team members with the ability to achieve organizational goals
d. Ensures that an adequate number of appropriately qualified personnel are on duty at all times to meet the needs of the residents/patients
13. Works with Administrator to prepare operating and capital budgets for the nursing department including all nursing supplies, designed to meet individual, departmental, and organizational strategies and goals
14. Establishes and alters staffing patterns within the framework of the established budget based on the needs of residents.
15. Serves as an articulate, enthusiastic, and visible spokesperson for Christian Care
16. Serves as a member of the Leadership Roundtable Team and (or designee) is a contributing member of the facility safety committee.
17. Communicates with and seeks assistance from Program Support Center (PSC) staff in problem solving and quality improvement issues; researches and makes recommendations to the PSC for policy changes, salary increases, staffing increases, annual budget amendments, resident rate increases, outside contractual services, major capital improvements and grants.

Work Environment
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee may encounter while performing the essential functions of this job.
1. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate; lighting is in the standard range.
2. The employee is subject to falls, burns from equipment, odors, and exposure to the infectious waste, diseases and conditions, including the AIDS and Hepatitis B and C viruses.
