Christian Care Communities is seeking a full-time Staff Development Coordinator/RN for our Christian Health Center West located on Magazine Street in downtown Louisville, KY (40203).

PART I: POSITION IDENTIFICATION Staff Development Coordinator

PART II: POSITION SUMMARY

The Director of Staff Development is primarily responsible encouraging the personal well-being and professional growth of all employees while ensuring current training and in-service education by collaborating with the human resources department and all department heads to ensure that ongoing education and development is implemented and maintained by conducting on-site education and staff improvement training sessions, ensuring issues surrounding compliance are satisfied while maintaining compliance with all applicable laws, regulatory and organizational standards.

PART III: POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Required Education: Associate’s degree in nursing from an accredited college or university

Preferred Education: Bachelor’s degree in nursing from an accredited college or university

Required Experience: 3 years’ experience as a licensed nurse

Preferred Experience: Geriatric Nursing; CNA, CMT; Instructional design, long-term care

Required Licensure: Licensed by the Commonwealth of Kentucky as a RN

Required Certification: CPR Instructor or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire

Methods of Instruction (MOI) Certified or ability to achieve within 1 year of hire

Skills, Abilities and Knowledge

1. Excellent communication skills to include:
a. Ability to speak and read English
b. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
c. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
d. Ability to speak effectively before groups of employees, organizations and others
e. Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of staff
2. Working knowledge of various software programs such as Microsoft Office products including, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel

PART IV: ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The incumbent performs job responsibilities without posing a significant risk of substantial harm to the health or safety of him/her or others while maintaining compliance with all policies and procedures of Christian Care Communities and within the parameters of the Organization’s mission, vision, and values.

1. Coordinates and conducts in collaboration with the human resources department and all department heads, new hire orientation for all departments, community-wide
2. Assesses learning needs and designs in-service and continuing education programs based upon ongoing quality assurance data to meet needs and regulatory guidelines
3. Develops, implements, communicates, and evaluates annual training plan
4. Develops specific teaching plans and programs to cover training needs for all roles on a regular and as needed basis;
a. Monitors education and training attendance records to insure that staff is meeting regulatory requirements for content and amount of needed education
b. Coordinates and manages the online and/or web-based training program including issuing assignments, tracking completion, and following up as necessary (current program is Upstairs Solutions).
c. Maintains an ongoing awareness of resources available through the Program Support Center in helping meet training needs.
5. Reports performance of employees to appropriate supervisor; assists in evaluation of staff as directed.
6. Maintains master copies of the facility policy/procedure manual and communication books.
Clinical / Nursing
7. Works with Director of Nursing (DON) to ensure quality of care is held to the highest standard and all facility policies and procedures are carried out by every staff member
a. Meets with the DON on an ongoing basis to develop, implement and evaluate annual training plan.
b. Maintains working knowledge of clinical skills and changing regulatory requirements for all levels of service (skilled nursing facility, assisted living, and independent living)
c. Coordinates the orientation for all levels of nursing staff using a competency-based mentoring style program
d. Coordinates, manages, trains, evaluates, and provides quality assurance of the Certified Nurse Aide mentoring program for new hires
e. Conducts nurse aide training program as directed. This includes the maintenance of all required records, student teaching, student monitoring and regulatory compliance.
f. Serves as the point of contact and facility representative for clinical training partnerships and student training.
g. Supervises the Infection Control Program ensuring all policies / procedures regarding infection control are carried out, maintained, and routinely inspected
h. Coordinates annual competency evaluations and re-certifications for all direct care nursing staff; ensures Certified Nurse Aide certification and nurse licensure remains current.
8. Participates in Quality Assurance Program related to the education and infection control program
9. Conducts Certified Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) courses as needed to maintain facility policy and/or regulatory compliance.
10. Completes facility rounds and meal monitors as directed.
11. Oversees and coordinates the Employee Uniform Program by assigning ad issuing uniforms, maintaining supplies, and enforcing compliance with policy apparel / grooming standards.

2. The employee is subject to falls, burns from equipment, odors, and exposure to the infectious waste, diseases and conditions, including the AIDS and Hepatitis B and C viruses.
