Description:Christian Care Communities is Kentucky’s largest and most diverse not-for-profit social service organization.

Our Program Support Center is seeking a full-time Director of Clinical Support Services.

Conducts job responsibilities in compliance with all policies and procedures of Christian Care Communities and within the parameters of the Organization’s mission, vision, and values. Responsible for developing and executing the clinical strategy for the organization as well as executing system-wide programs regarding licensure, certification, accreditation, clinical standards, quality standards and clinical staff development. Provides clinical support to facility Administration and Directors of Nursing related to daily operations issues. Responsible for implementation of policies and procedures that would raise the scores of the Health Centers with the Five-Star Quality Rating System as developed by the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services.

Trainer and Instructor

Develops and implements clinical training/staff development and assessing clinical competencies to ensure adherence to standards for all regulating bodies; facilitates, coaches, and teaches others to use critical thinking and root cause analysis; develops and implements clinical training and professional development programs for LTC Directors of Nursing and staff; identifies and implements internal and external clinical training opportunities.

Policies and Procedures

Develops and implements standardized clinical documentation, policies, and procedures; develops strategies and executes programs to ensure quality of clinical care; establishes and evaluates measures and outcomes; capable of serving in a full-time interim DON role as necessary or directed.

Minimum Data Set (MDS) and Case-Mix Management

Develops and implements standardized documentation for MDS; provides guidance for improving Case-Mix and RUGs rates; develop and perform audits for Case-Mix annual review; verifies facility systems and contingency plans for successful completion of RAI process; conducts analysis, tracks benchmarks and develops action plans to assure appropriate reimbursement for services rendered.

Survey Readiness/Preparation

Provide preparatory audit for Survey Readiness; communicates regulatory changes and enforcement trends to appropriate facility staff; develops standardized survey preparation practices; assist in the development of Plans of Correction, IDR proceedings and compliance plan execution.

Risk and Legal Matters

Implement charting guidelines, procedures and forms to assist Nursing Managers and Administration in reducing risk related to nursing operations; assist organizations Director of Risk Management in evaluating risk and implementing corrective action as deemed necessary; provides technical support related to litigation actions.

Recruiting, Hiring, Training, and Performance Management of Nurse Managers

Supports organization-wide initiatives to identify best practices for recruitment, workforce planning, talent development, retention, and recognition of excellence in clinical services; develops staffing models for facilities and integrates efficient/effective methodologies and metrics across the facilities; training of Directors of Nursing who are new to the role and orientation of DONs new to the facility.

Clinical Standards

Monitors quality indicators by reviewing the actual process used, utilization forms, staff knowledge base, and resident outcomes; ensures nursing is represented at state, regional and national nursing forums where appropriate; maintains system-wide quality assurance reporting and analysis.

Qualifications:Required: Associate Degree in Nursing from an accredited college or university. Preferred: Bachelor of Science in Nursing from an accredited four-year college or university.

Minimum of 5 years as a Director of Nursing in a Skilled Nursing Facility or significant other management or consulting experience in Long Term Care.

Unencumbered Registered Nurse license from the State of Kentucky.

Valid driver’s license with clean driving record.

If personal vehicle is to be used to transport self or staff, insurance of $100,000 single limit liability must be maintained.


Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to serve as a key spokesperson for Christian Care Communities

MDS, Geriatrics, Gerontology, advanced clinical skills

Demonstrated ability to set and achieve or exceed goals

Team player who can give and take advice and support in order to ensure the fulfillment of the Christian Care’s Mission

Proven ability to develop a highly productive, effective team environment by mentoring staff, building teams and enhancing professionalism

Knowledge of: various software programs with the ability to evaluate, implement and properly utilize new technologies; customer service; MDS; case-mix; survey/regulations
